Member Criteria, Guidelines and Application

Artist Studio Jury Selection Criteria

  • Active Louisiana Craft Guild members are automatically juried in to the Corridor des Arts Studio Tour, upon availability. Although not required for LCG members, sending images will increase the possibility of including work in media releases.
  • All studios must be located within the Corridor des Arts boundaries.  Artists with studios outside the designated area are welcome to submit; please refer to the Participant Application.
  • Each artist must submit 3, professionally presented pieces for jury by the selection committee
  • Entries may be submitted for review in the following formats (Quality images, Please!): Photos (4 x 6), CD (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi) or jpegs (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi)  
  • Each image must include the ARTIST’S NAME, TITLE of the ART, DESCRIPTION, ART MEDIUM and BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
  • Artwork should be professionally presented
  • Artwork must be handmade, original to the artist and of the artist’s concept
  • Artist to provide at least one photo or jpeg of proposed studio tour site with completed application

Gallery Jury Selection Criteria

  • All Galleries must be located within the Corridor des Arts boundaries. Galleries outside the designated area are welcome to submit, please refer to the Participant Application.
  • Each Gallery must submit 3, professionally presented pieces by a featured artist for the jury by the selection committee. Entries may be submitted for review in the following formats (Quality images, Please!): Photos (4 x 6), CD (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi) or jpegs (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi)
  • Each image must include the ARTIST’S NAME, TITLE of the ART, DESCRIPTION, ART MEDIUM and BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
  • Artwork should be professionally presented on a featured artist wall
  • Artwork must be handmade, original to the artist and of the artist’s concept
  • Gallery to provide at least one photo or jpeg of proposed studio tour site with completed application

Shop/Gallery Selection Criteria

  • All Shops must be located within the Corridor des Arts boundaries. Shops outside the designated area are welcome to submit, please refer to the Participant Application.
  • Each Shop must submit 3, professionally presented pieces by a featured artist for jury by the selection committee
  • Entries may be submitted for review in the following formats (Quality images, Please!): Photos (4 x 6), CD (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi) or jpegs (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi).  Each image must include the ARTIST’S NAME, TITLE of the ART, DESCRIPTION, ART MEDIUM and BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
  • Artwork should be professionally presented on a featured artist wall containing no less than 80% original art as determined by official Louisiana Cultural Districts rules
  • Artwork must be handmade, original to the artist and of the artist’s concept
  • Shop to provide at least one photo or jpeg of proposed studio tour site with completed application

Alternative Art Venue Selection Criteria

  • All Venues must be located within the Corridor des Arts boundaries. Venues outside the designated area are welcome to submit, but are required to use a host space (provided by businesses, empty store fronts, etc.) located within the boundaries in which to work and display during the tour.  The CA Committee will make every effort to assist in that.
  • Each Venue must submit 3, professionally presented pieces by a featured artist for the jury by the selection committee. Entries may be submitted for review in the following formats (Quality images, Please!): Photos (4 x 6), CD (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi) or jpegs (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi)
  • Each image must include the ARTIST’S NAME, TITLE of the ART, DESCRIPTION, ART MEDIUM and BRIEF BIOGRAPHY.
  • Artwork should be professionally presented on a featured artist wall containing no less than 80% original art as determined by official Louisiana Cultural Districts rules.
  • Artwork must be handmade, original to the artist and of the artist’s concept.
  • Venue to provide at least one photo or jpeg of proposed studio tour site with completed application. 

Art Related Studio Selection Criteria

  • All Art Related Studios must be located within the Corridor des Arts boundaries. Venues outside the designated area are welcome to submit, please refer to the Participant Application.
  • Each Venue must submit 3, professionally presented pieces of work that serve to support the work of artists for the jury by the selection committee. Entries may be submitted for review in the following formats (Quality images, Please!): Photos (4 x 6), CD (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi) or jpegs (4 x 6 images, min. 300dpi)
  • Each image must include the ARTIST’S NAME, TITLE of the ART, DESCRIPTION, ART MEDIUM and BRIEF BIOGRAPHY.
  • Items should be professionally presented on a featured wall containing no less than 80% original art as determined by official Louisiana Cultural Districts rules.
  • Items must be handmade, original to the maker and of the maker's concept.
  • Venue to provide at least one photo or jpeg of proposed site with completed application.   Maker agrees to be present during the studio tour published times.

Eligible Media

  • Visual arts and crafts, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, clay, ceramics, fiber, glass, leather, metal, paper, wood, or mixed media; and
  • Limited, numbered editions (up to 100) of lithographs, photography, silk screen, intaglios, etchings, graphic design

Types of Venues

  • Studio--primary focus is creating one-of a kind art
  • Gallery--primary focus is displaying and selling one-of-a kind original art
  • Shop/Gallery--secondary focus is displaying and selling one-of-a kind art
  • Art Venue--secondary focus is selling, displaying and/or creating one-of a kind art
  • Art Related Studio--primary focus is creating and/or selling objects needed for the creation of art
  • Alternative Venue--primary focus is anything but the creation and/or selling of one-of-a kind original art

Original Art (defined by Louisiana Cultural Districts legislation)

Open Studio Tour - April 12, 2014

Please forward your application as soon as possible to be included on the Corridor des Arts website and Facebook.  Securing a yearly membership includes free participation in biannual studio tours, listing on the official website and inclusion in all marketing. Applications without fee payment will not be considered. Checks or money orders only will be accepted.

MEMBER AGREEMENT 

  • Member agrees to be present in their studio or host studio from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. during the Spring Tour.
  • Member agrees to exhibit artwork of their own original design.
  • Member is encouraged to work on art during the tour.
  • Member agrees to (where applicable) help promote the event, distribute postcards, forward emails/announcements, etc.
  • If you are an artist, make an attempt to be present during the studio tour
  • If you are not an artist, request that featured artists be present during the studio tour
  • Make an attempt to speak French, secure or hire a French immersion student to greet patrons
  • Pay relative fee with application

HOLD HARMLESS:  As a condition of participation, the above named participant(s) and/or individuals agree to indemnify and hold harmless NUNU Arts, its officers, directors, committee members (including Corridor des Arts Committee), volunteers, sponsors, property owners and/or their respective agents, business owners and or their respective agents, from any and all claims, actions, suits, loss.

Free and open to the public, this tour offers a unique opportunity to explore creative spaces along the back roads of rural Acadiana while enjoying one of the most exciting aspects of contemporary art—the chance to discuss art with the artists themselves.
